Each year in February Ovarian Cancer Australia runs a national Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month campaign to highlight the symptoms of ovarian cancer and to raise funds for our program

01 February - 30 December: Heart Kids National Awareness Month

Organisation: HeartKids Australia

HeartKids aims to raise awareness for all aspects of children's heart disease. They support children with heart diseases, as well as their families, including those who have lost young children. Heart Kids works towards reducing both the incidence and the mortality rates of childhood heart disease. During the month there is a particular emphasis on February 14th.

04 February - 30 December: World Cancer Day

Organisation: Cancer Council Australia

World Cancer Day - acknowledging the impact of cancer on people around the world. Today is used to recognise efforts to improve cancer prevention, treatment and care.

12 - 18 February: Duchenne Awareness Week

Organisation: Duchenne Foundation

Every year the week surrounding Valentine's Day is Duchenne Awareness Week. Each year around the world, nearly 20,000 children, mostly boys, are born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. These children rarely live longer than their parents.

18 February - 30 December: International Asperger's Day

Organisation: Asperger's Syndrome Support Network (Qld)

International Asperger's Day is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of people with Asperger's Syndrome, a developmental disorder that affects how the brain processes information. It is also an opportunity to show support for their families and carers.

19 - 26 February: DonateLife Week

Organisation: DonateLife

DonateLife Week is the national awareness week to promote organ and tissue donation in Australia and is led by the Organ and Tissue Authority as part of the Australian Government's National Reform Agenda to increase organ and tissue donation rates.

The national theme for DonateLife Week 2012 is "Ask and know your loved ones' wishes". This is because in Australia the family of every potential donor is always asked to confirm the donation wishes of their loved one before organ and/or tissue donation can proceed. Proposed activities must be aligned with the national theme.

23 - 23 February: Teal Ribbon Day

Organisation: Ovarian Cancer Australia

Teal Ribbon Day remembers those who have been lost to ovarian cancer, as well as supporting those who are still fighting it. The entire month of February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
