Welcome to 2012! The New Year is often a time to reflect on our achievements and plan changes for the year ahead as we get back into the swing of our busy lives.
Last year we celebrated 40 years in Australia as the leader in the medical identification (ID) jewellery sector and introduced many initiatives to benefit our members’ wellbeing.
In the coming months members will enjoy the convenience of being able to update their personal details online. Given the importance of maintaining accurate medical information on our national database, we’ll continue to check all changes individually.
Ongoing improvements to our database mean our staff can provide even better service when members call us. As the security of the personal information we hold is paramount, our system is constantly upgraded to protect those details.
Our electronic newsletter for members and supporters of the Foundation was launched last November and has proven to be popular with those who receive it. If you’re a member and haven’t yet received your copy, simply advise us of your name, member number and email address and we’ll add you to the mailing list.
Our team continues to invest considerable time in attending medical, nursing, pharmacy and paramedic conferences across Australia. Our attendance helps us to provide education and raise awareness about our organisation and how our emblem can protect and save lives.
A critical design feature of the genuine MedicAlert emblem is that the information engraved on the back is easily read without removing it from the wrist or neck (especially our bracelets) – which is imperative in an emergency when seconds count. If you plan to wear a medical ID, please consider the design carefully and make sure it meets your specific needs and those of the emergency and healthcare personnel caring for you.
Our medical ID jewellery is always changing. We’ve recently introduced our crystal bracelet range made with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and four new designs in our versatile sports band range. The sports bands are great for children heading back to school.
Warm regards,
Sandra Turner
